How To Energise Yourself Without Coffee
Coffee to wake up, coffee to get through your essays, coffee to help that afternoon slump? We’re all guilty of using coffee as quick fix, but the truth is our highs and lows throughout the day are actually rooted in caffeine, as it tricks the body into feeling energised and the you loose the sudden boost and you end up in a vicious circle. So we’ve rounded up the best ways to boost your energy without caffeine below…
Let the sunshine in – as soon as you wake up, open your blinds. This will help kickstart your circadian rhythm. Surrounding yourself in natural light the first hour after you wake up will improve your energy levels throughout the day.
Eat a high protein breakfast – our bodies work so much better if our glucose levels remain steady and by starting the day with protein your less likely to have sudden peaks throughout the day. Get those eggs out!
Take a walk – when you’ve hit your afternoon slump, get a dose of sunshine (even if its just 3 minutes). It’s been found that even on a winters day going outside stimulates your circadian rhythm and will in turn boost your energy levels.
Drink some water – even just a 1.5% drop in your normal water consumption can result in fatigue, inability to concentrate and change your mood. So when you start craving that coffee, get yourself a glass of water.
